From the recording this and other worlds

Composed for a near future world; perhaps not our own.

This piece is scored for a small ensemble consisting of a horn section of two trumpets, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones; a string section of violin, viola, cello and double bass; piano and percussion.

It is, in part, written in a conversational style’ where unison phrases are not completely in lock-step, allowing more of the individual voices clarity and interplay.

There are Latin, Jazz and Classical music influences throughout including Charlie Haden’s Liberation Music Orchestra, Charles Mingus, Ornette Coleman and George Russell.

There are predominantly feelings of optimism but with elements arising of more complex and ominous concerns.

We are still Before the Climate Wars and it is not yet a certainty that they will occur.
